The arctic fox is the only native terrestrial mammal of Iceland. He came on his 4 insulated feet during the last glaciation. Like the red fox he's very discreet but also nosy. Phil, our guide, has been studying the animal for 10 years and knows everything about him.
Northern lights are visible in Iceland from September to March. You just have to pray for the sky to be clear. An old legend says they are created by an arctic fox sweeping its tail in the snow.

For this updated version of his Melrakki book, Phil Garcia curated his best shots of the life of the Icelandic arctic fox, in every season and in the wildest and harshest conditions.
This monography also features an extensive scientific text written by Ester Rut Unnsteinsdóttir and illustrations by Rán Flygenring, making it the new reference book about the most elusive Icelander.
"Melrakki, the surviving arctic fox" is a hardcovered square (23x23cm) book of 120 pages. It's printed in France on 150g art paper from sustainable forestry.
